Czechoslovakian wolfdog

Lupus Logudori is an amateur breeding, born to contribute to the improvement of the breed, trying to reproduce subjects that best respect the morphological and character selection of the standard, moreover all our dogs are tested against the main diseases with genetic transmission, such as dysplasia, myelopathy degenerative and pituitary dwarfism.

For about 14 years we have been following and studying the bloodlines of the most important clc in the history of the Czechoslovakian wolfdog, this allows us to make correct and targeted choices in selecting this breed.

A bit of history

How the Czechoslovakian wolfdog was born

In 1955, a biological experiment took place in the crossing of a German shepherd and a Carpathian wolf. The purpose of this mating was to obtain guide dogs for the needs of the Czechoslovakian border guard. It was assumed that the "addition" of wolf blood would give the dogs increased stamina and alertness, necessary to protect the western border of the then Czechoslovakia. The experiment was aimed at identifying some problems of interspecific crossing from a biological point of view, in terms of heredity, biometrics, physiological differences between dogs, wolves and hybrids. Problems related to the creation of positive and negative conditioned reflexes, endogenous activity, social behavior and its changes during the animal's life were also monitored. As the project was to be implemented on several farms in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the development of the project was entrusted to Lieutenant Colonel Karel Hartl, head of the cynology service.  In 1957 the project began, the first crossings were born on May 26, 1958  five puppies born, 1 male and 4 female. In the year 1965, after the end of the experiment, a plan was drawn up for the breeding of this new breed, and in the year 1982 the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog was recognized as a national breed by the General Council of the Breeders Association of the CSSR of that weather.
